A theater-dance project on identity and gender
The theater-dance project is interested in the relationship between gender and identity from personal perspectives, both biographically and artistically. It takes a look at the ways in which common taboos arise and function and questions the normativity of such definitions.
Mydentity is a biographical project. At the center of the theatrical event are 7 people with trans biographies, 3 dancers and 2 actors. The exchange of experiences between the generations plays an important role: older people, who may have gone through the process of coming out a long time ago, are on stage together with young people, whose confrontation with their identity today seems to have completely different basic conditions.
The experiences and conflicts that go hand in hand with the struggle for a self-determined gender identity form the focus of this work. The artistic exploration of MYDENTITY contributes in a playful, humorous and touching way to understanding deviance as a contribution to diversity. The focus of the exploration is on the idea of expanding the boundaries of social identity.
