Le voci ritrovate - Dance Film
Winner of 11 Awards
The rediscovered voices: words and songs of Italian prisoners on German soil during the Great War. A dive in time and space. Strings of gravity vibrate at different frequencies. The skin on the cold cement: the delicacy of the skin, within the sharp lines of a cage. The body breath unfolds secrets from the past, present and future. In history, the tragedy of our bodies, of lost human worth, is revealed. Fragments and entrails of the body, victims of the ego's greed, in a circle of survival and survivors. I look for voices and images to recall and dwell on the injustices created by the power of trade and the commodification of everything. Lost secret messages, which never reached their destinations. Inspired by the discovery of voice and songs of the prisoners of the Great War, the Soundtrack is created by assembling the voices of prisoners, different types of water sounds, overtones and the rumbles of the moving body. I want to release the messages of prisoners deluded into thinking they will be freed someday, having donated their precious cultural gems. Diving in this unique material, the composer Christopher A.Williams give life to a sensitive, vibrant jewel whose breathing allows us to dive in the images and their essence. The film was shot at Ernst Busch University, Berlin in 2018-2019.
Thank you to the outstanding artistic team, the Lautarchive of the Humboldt University, where the files of the voices are stored, the HZT and Ernst Busch University, that made this production possible.
